DIN Schrift
This is a typeface formerly known as realist sans serif and dates back to 1905. The Royal Prussian Railway Administration created it with the purpose of unifying the descriptions on freight cars. DIN-Engschrift was another version created by Berthold foundry in 1929, which was condensed and used for technical drawings in most cases. In 1936, DIN 1451 a emerged. DIN is an acronym for Deutsches Institut fur Normung (German Institute for Standardization). Since then, DIN 1451 remained in use for German automobile plates until the year 2000. Albert-Jan Pool came up with the idea of creating a versatile family of DIN typefaces for Fontshop for commercial applications.
